Prof. Mauro Giacca received his Degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Trieste, Italy in 1984 and his PhD in Microbiology and Virology from the University of Genoa, Italy. From 2000 - 2004, he has been Founder and Director of the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. Since 2004, he is Director of the Italian Component of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Trieste, Italy, where he coordinates the activity of 16 research groups, involving over 200 people from 29 different countries (www.icgeb.org). Since 2005 he is Full Professor of Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Trieste.
